Hello! Wow, right after I thought “Okay, I am recommiting to a weekly newsletter,” I was bitten by a dog!
I’m totally fine! But, for a while there, it was not fun to use my right hand. The good news is, I didn’t have any fractures, AND I got this cool x-ray! Look, it’s my bones!
So, that happened, and THEN I went home to Missouri for Easter. And I was too busy decorating eggs, and then throwing them in the street, to really do any writing.

My bonked-up scab-hand slowed me down. Now I’m finally playing catch-up and meeting deadlines! And I have so much coming up in the near future!! This email is gonna be ½ photos of animals, ½ self-promotion. I hope that is okay!
Here’s a baby goat named Duke and his mom, Hilary.
OH! And my brother and I met CLOWNVIS!!!!!!!!!
April 25th: A workshop with my friend Amy
Hey! Remember Good Work!, the creative co-working sessions I hosted for a while? They’re back! And this first session of 2026 is a collab, with my friend Amy Jans of DreamNudge!

In our combined workshop (which we’re calling DreamWork), you’ll spend time setting specific goals for your creative life, and then we’ll have dedicated time together to kickstart our efforts. It’s going to be fun! It’s going to be productive It’s going to make you feel good about your life!

May 2nd: My new show in an old Mrs. Field’s Cookies
Listen. Hey. I’ve been cooking this show in my brain for well over a year. And now I finally have a date and a time and a whole THING to show you. aaaAAAAHHH!!!!

Laughing and Talking and Laughing with Singing—LaTaLwS, if you please—is a variety talk show with music, comedy, interviews and unexpected delights. Now in its 56 trillionth season, LaTaLwS is hosted by me, Hattie Hayes, an extratemporal, benevolent being. I was created shortly before the universe began, and then, I started hosting this show.
Audiences can expect sketches, interviews, songs (parody and original recipe) and games. It's a nice time, for nice people, in the opulent and sparkling Hidden Jewel Box Theater. This is a theater in Port Authority, housed in what was once a Mrs. Fields Cookies. I KNOW.
You can buy tickets to the show right here! There’s a donation-based bar, and if you buy the VIP loveseat, you may receive a special surprise from me.

May 9th: I get to go back on College Radio!!!!
Back in September, I was part of the cast for College Radio: Gone Country. It was some of the most fun I’ve had on a stage, and I’m back, baby, for a playlist of sketches based on Y2K-era music!

Since it’s gonna be MAY, We’re traveling to the 2000s! I’ll be wearing jelly shoes, carrying a jelly backpack, and showing off my Hoku CD. This show may contain: Britney, Xtina, boy bands, Beyonce, alt rock, Nu metal, velour jumpsuits, references to the reality show Girls Next Door, The Click Five, Hit Clips, and/or low rise jeans! It’s like an episode of Total Request Live at Caveat! Get your tickets now. Start a betting pool on which Avril Lavigne song parodies I’ll be pitching!
Okay. I’m back with Dottie and I have a lot of Peeps to eat. Thank you for reading, and remember: if a dog or cat bites you, it’s important to go to urgent care or the E.R. right away, like I did! The sooner you get on antibiotics, the sooner it’ll heal, and you’ll prevent any infection from spreading to your bones!
